it hurts too much not to talk... That's the worst, when the secret stays locked
up for want of an understanding ear." |

Counseling Services Counseling involves one-on-one sessions with a SAC counselor over the course of three to six months. Counseling is available for both survivors of sexual assault as well as friends and family of survivors who often experience their own overwhelming reactions to the rape. SAC counselors can also serve as advocates and support at the hospital, during interviews with police, or in the court systems for those who decide to press charges against their attackers. Some things to be aware of:
If you are interested in seeing a SAC counselor, please call the Listening Ear at (517) 337-1717. Community Education SAC is dedicated not only to helping survivors of sexual assault, but also to education and prevention. For this reason, we offer free community education for any and all interested groups. There are two ways to arrange for a SAC speaker to come to your classroom, meeting, or event. 1. Call The Listening Ear at (517) 337-1717 and tell the volunteer on shift that you're interested in a SAC presentation. The volunteer will take your name and number, as well as any information you care to give about your group, and a SAC volunteer will return your call to set up the presentation. 2. If you prefer, you can e-mail your request to theear@msu.edu. Please contact us at least 2-3 weeks in advance of your event. |
